Obviously before cutting the watermelon into cubes to mix it with other ingredients you will have to remove all the seeds because between one fork and another, they’re not a pleasant surprise. So first wash the watermelon well to remove all the soil that might be deposited on the outside. Then slice it or use a tool to scoop out small balls. Once you have obtained cubes or spheres of watermelon, with plenty of patience remove the seeds.
Seeds don't get thrown
Did you know that watermelon seeds can become a tasty snack? Just toast them in the oven for 25 minutes at 350°F with oil and salt. They're great to munch on.
How to choose watermelon
A heavy watermelon is a mature watermelon because it contains a lot of water. To choose the best one, take two watermelons of the same size and weigh them. The heavier one is the better one. Another good measure of selection is its appearance, which needs to be uniform. The skin shouldn’t have irregularities or bruises. The field spot of the watermelon, the part that was resting on the ground, must be a dark in color. If it’s white, then the watermelon is not ripe. Another way to know if the watermelon is good, is to listen to the sound, but only true experts can really do this. Just knock the surface and listen. It needs to be a dull full sound. That said, if you really can't decide on one just buy a watermelon already cut and save yourself the bother. Just be sure to check the color of the pulp. It should be bright red with very dark seeds and then check the consistency, which shouldn’t be chalky.
