What would the world be like without cherries? This delicious fruit appears on our tables from May onwards and also lends itself well to lots of easy to prepare recipes, such as chocolate-covered cherries.
Cherries are best friends of your health and figure
The cherry has many properties, slimming, purifying, detoxifying, anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving. Composed almost entirely of water and rich in soluble fibers and mineral salts, this fruit is also an effective antioxidant, when accompanied with dark chocolate it will also have a positive effect on our mood. So here’s how to prepare these tempting chocolate-covered cherries.
Chocolate-covered cherries
Ingredients for four people: 5 oz cherries (recommended variety is Durone), 4 oz dark chocolate and 2 oz sugar. You start by breaking up the chocolate in a small saucepan to melt it on the stove over a very low flame or in bain-marie. After washing the cherries, pour in some water and fifty grams of sugar into another container: melt down over low heat and then add the cherries. Let everything cook for five minutes, without boiling, pour into a colander and drain the cherries. At this point take each fruit one at a time, holding the stalk dip them in the melted chocolate. Let the chocolate-covered cherries dry on a grill for a few minutes and your sweet snack is ready, to be enjoyed alone or to use as a filling for other desserts.
